Indian Army Clarifies 'No Soldiers Missing' After Galwan Valley Clash

As many as twenty soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred during a violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh's Galwan Valley on Monday night.

New Delhi: After some rumoured reports claiming that few Indian Army soldiers were missing in the Galwan valley, Indian Army on Thursday rubbished the report saying that "no soldier is missing and everyone is in the Army camp." ALSO READ | Chinese Troops Used Barbed Wire Clubs & Rods To Attack Indian Soldiers; Know Why Firing Was Not Involved It was assumed by the foreign media that some soldiers of the Indian troops might have fallen in the river or held captive by the counterpart after the violent clashes with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh three days back. However, in a statement released today, Army clarified that "there are no Indian troops missing in action." External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava also confirmed the statement. Speaking at a media briefing earlier today, Srivastava  said, "no Indian soldiers were missing since the clashes on Monday three days back." ALSO READ | From Indian Railways To State-Run Telecom Firms, India Boycotts China After Ladakh Face-Off He went on to say that "Indian Army troops who were attacked and suffered fatal casualties on Monday night were carrying weapons. However, they did not fire on their adversaries." As many as twenty soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred during a violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh's Galwan Valley on Monday night. Sources have said that as many as 35 casualties were dealt to Chinese troops.  China has now claimed sovereignty over India’s Galwan Valley region and has accused India of violating border protocols. India has rejected all the allegations made by China and has said Chinese troops tried to modify status quo unilaterally. While the military talks ended on a positive trajectory today, more are to be followed on Friday.
