Petrol, diesel prices down by 10% since October; Check latest fuel rates in your city
After a substantial reduction in fuel prices across the country since October, petrol and diesel rates remained unchanged in India today.
Petrol, diesel price today: After a substantial reduction in fuel prices across the country since October, petrol and diesel rates remained unchanged in India today. Currently, petrol is being sold at Rs 76.38 in the national capital whereas a litre of diesel is available at Rs 71.27. Likewise in Mumbai, a litre of petrol and diesel is being sold at Rs 81.90 and Rs 74.66, respectively. Even in other metro cities fuel prices have witnessed similar shedding with fuel stations in Chennai selling petrol at Rs 79.31 and diesel at Rs 75.31. In Kolkata, petrol is selling at Rs 78.33 per litre and diesel at Rs 73.13 per litre. In Noida, petrol price was retailing at Rs 74.94 while diesel was sold at Rs 69.63 per litre. Giving immense relief to commutes across the country, fuel rates have continuously reduced for as many as 32 straight days after witnessing a relentless hike since mid-August. Fuel rates started coming down since October 18.
During this time, petrol price touched to Rs 84 in the national capital after which Central government lowered the rates by Rs 2.5. At the same time, crude oil prices had hit a four-year high of $75 a barrel. Till Tuesday, US WTI crude futures ended at $53.43 per barrel. At its lowest since December 2017, Brent crude oil futures were trading at around $63 a barrel in the morning today, reported news agency Reuters.

Now customers can easily get the updated indicative petrol and diesel prices in any city across the country. One can log into the IOCL app on mobile to get the details or can also send an SMS with text - “RSP Dealer Code of Petrol Pump” – and send it to 92249 92249.
In November, petrol prices have come down by nearly Rs 3 per litre while diesel has become cheaper by nearly Rs 2 per litre. As per industry experts, if the crude remains at these levels, then petrol and diesel prices will be reduced further in the days to come.
