'People Who Gave Clean Chit To Badal Given Responsibilities', Sidhu Shares Video After Resignation

"It is not a personal battle but a fight for principles. I won't compromise on principles," said Sidhu in video message.

New Delhi: A day after submitting his resignation as Punjab PCC Chief to the Congress high command, Navjot Singh Sidhu has shared a video message on his Twitter handle citing reasons for his sudden decision.

In a two min long video, Sidhu has said that he can never compromise with the ideals and values of the Congress party and can never lie to the Congress high command. He further says that this is not his individual fight but is fighting for the people.

Sidhu further said that his father has always taught him to stand with the truth and the reality his he couldn't accept the elevation of those people who had given a 'clean chit to Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal 6 years ago'.

He also said that there are many tainted leaders and officers who are getting privileges in the new government which is not right, hence he will continue his fight to bring justice to the people of Punjab and will serve the high command 'whole heartedly'.

According to ABP sources, Sidhu was unhappy with the three recent appointments in Punjab.

  • Sidhu was upset at Rana Gurjit Singh being included in the cabinet again as Singh has been accused of a role in a sand mining scam and quit the Amarinder Singh cabinet in 2018. He was later cleared by an inquiry panel.
  • Sidhu was upset over the appointment of Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota as the new DGP of Punjab as he wasn't consulted before taking such decisions
  • Sidhu was most annoyed by the appointment of APS Deol as the Advocate General of Punjab. Deol's appointment was controversial as he is fighting the case of former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini who is accused of killing two people in the violence that followed the sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib in 2015 while he was the DGP. He has also appeared in several sensitive matters, including a complaint filed by Justice Ranjit Singh against Akali Dali chief Sukhbir Singh Badal
