‘People Remember MNS To Solve Problems, Forget While Voting’: Raj Thackeray In New Year Message

The MNS chief said that despite all the changes Mumbai has witnessed over the last 25 years, the Marathi people continue to feel "insecure" about the lack of employment opportunities.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said in his New Year message on Wednesday that the people of Maharashtra remember and look up to his party for solution whenever they face problems, but ignore them at the time of voting. He also expressed disappointment over the Maharashtra Assembly election results, stressing that he would soon speak about it at length.

The MNS chief said that despite all the changes Mumbai has witnessed over the last 25 years, the Marathi people continue to feel "insecure" about the lack of employment opportunities. "Young people do not get work, but at the same time, job opportunities are available to those coming from outside the state," Thackrey alleged.

"The unemployed do not have a caste, but they are made to feel that caste, and they incite conflicts between castes. The lives of all workers, from farmers to the poor, are being ruined by inflation. And at the time of this and every other problem, people remember the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, but forget the party at the time of voting," he added in a post on X.

Thackrey said he is still pondering over the state assembly election results and promised to provide a broader direction to his party. He also appealed to his party workers and leaders to forget what happened and to begin working for the people of the state, saying it was their responsibility to take action.

"But I appeal to the soldiers of Maharashtra to forget what happened...atrocities against women are increasing. There is a conflict between the two communities in the state, both of which are Marathi speaking. And inflation has made people miserable," Thackeray said.

"In this situation, Maharashtra soldiers should put aside their own regrets. We are not doing anything with the elections in mind, so it is our responsibility to take action in all this," he added.

The MNS is under stress after it failed to win a single seat in the recent Assembly polls. The party fielded 125 candidates in the recent state election, but failed to open its account, securing just 1.55 percent vote share. Raj Thackeray had described the results as "unbelievable".

In the 2009 Assembly polls, MNS bagged 13 seats, while in 2014 and 2019, the party could won just one seat each.
