ED Issues July 1 Summons To Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut In Patra Chawl Land Scam Case

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday sent a second summon to Shiv Sena spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut in a money laundering case linked to Patra Chawl land scam in Mumbai, reported news agency ANI. The enforcement agency had summoned him for today to which the Shiv Sena leader had said that he can't appear due to a meeting in Alibaug.
The enforcement agency had summoned the Shiv Sena MP for questioning in connection with the case and other related financial transactions involving his wife and friends. Raut who dubbed the summons as a "conspiracy" said that he would not be able to appear todaya adding that he will ask for a new date.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) sends a second summon to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, asking him to appear before them on 1st July in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case.

In the year 2007, Guruashish Constructions a sister company of Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL) was tasked with the redevelopment project of Patra Chawl in Mumbai by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA). On 47 acres of land, Guruashish constructions was supposed to build 672 flats and handover 3000 flats to MHADA.
It has been alleged that no construction was done on the allotted land, rather the land and floor space index (FSI) were sold to eight builders at a price of 1,034 crores.

The Enforcement Directorate had on February 1, this year registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) under which raids were carried on at seven places associated to Praveen Raut and Sujit Patkar after which Raut was arrested on February 2. Praveen Raut, whose name also appeared in PMC scam, is said to be Sanjay Raut's friend. During investigation it was revealed that a money transaction of rupees 55 lakh took place between Praveen Raut's wife Madhuri and Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha which was used by Sanjay Raut's family to buy a flat in Mumbai's Dadar.
The development comes as the party battles rebellion from a group of its legislators led by Eknath Shinde putting a question mark on the future of Maharashtra's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
