'Shah Rukh Should Watch Pathaan With His Daughter': Now, MP Assembly Speaker Targets 'Besharam Rang'

Dragging Suhana Khan into the 'Pathaan' controversy, MP assembly Speaker Girish Gautam said that Shah Rukh Khan should watch the movie with his daughter and post a picture to show the world.

The controversy over the saffron outfit in a song in the Deepika Padukone-Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Pathaan' refuses to wane. After Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra’s warning to take action if certain sequences in the movie are not changed, state assembly Speaker Girish Gautam on Monday said the film is such that even Shah Rukh Khan will not be able to watch it sitting beside his daughter Suhana.

"Shah Rukh Khan should watch this film with his daughter and upload a picture for the world to see. Challenge to make a similar film on the Prophet and run it," Girish Gautam said.

Girish Gautam made the statement ahead of the five-day winter session, which began on Monday amid the demand to ban 'Pathaan' in cinema halls in the state. With the rising protests from both the ruling BJP and the Congress, there is a possibility of a discussion on the issue on the floor of the House.

Leader of the Opposition Govind Singh and former Union minister Suresh Pachauri have also opposed the film saying that it is "against our values". Suresh Pachauri said, "It is not about Pathaan, but about paridhaan [clothes]. In Indian culture, no woman would be allowed to wear such clothes and put up that view in public — be it Hindu, Muslim, or a follower of any other religion.”

Earlier, Narottam Mishra objected to Padukone's costume in the song of "Pathaan" and also frowned upon the colour of the attire of Padukone and lead actor Shah Rukh Khan, calling for its "rectification". Mishra said if certain scenes in the song are not "corrected", the government will consider what to do about the screening of the movie in Madhya Pradesh.

Deepika and Shah Rukh's bold style in the song 'Besharam Rang' has been under the scanner since its release last week. The film is slated to be released on January 25, 2023.
