Pakistan Opens Fire Again Along LoC In Kashmir Amid Tensions, India Retaliates

On the night of April 25-26, 2025, Pakistan Army carried out unprovoked firing across the Line of Control in Kashmir.

The Pakistani Army once again carried out small firing all across the Line of Control in Kashmir on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, said the Indian Army. The Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms, and there are no reports of casualties, it added.

"On the night of the 25th-26th of April 2025, unprovoked small firing was carried out by various Pakistan Army posts all across the Line of Control in Kashmir. Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms. No casualties reported," the Army said in its statement.

The development comes for the consecutive second day after the Indian Army said on Thursday it effectively responded to unprovoked firing by Pakistani military at some places along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistani military resorted to the firing on Thursday, reported PTI quoting military sources, adding there were no reports of any casualties.

Rising India-Pak Tensions

Tensions have escalated between the two countries in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam killing 26 civilians including a foreign national and a local.

On Friday, Army Chief General Upendra Rawat arrived in Kashmir and reviewed the security situation along with senior Army commanders.

In view of the cross-border linkages to the Pahalgam attack, India on Wednesday announced a slew of punitive measures including the suspension of the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, closing of the Attari land-border crossing and expulsion of Pakistani military attaches.

New Delhi also asked all Pakistanis in India who entered the country via the Attari land border to leave by May 1.

In response, Pakistan also announced shutting its airspace to all Indian airlines and suspended trade with New Delhi including through third countries. Islamabad also rejected India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and said any measures to stop the flow of water belonging to Pakistan under the pact will be seen as an "act of war".
