Pak Drone Airdrops 5 Kg Heroin In Punjab's Amritsar, Joint Team Of BSF & Police Recovers Consignment
Five kilograms of heroin was seized by a joint team of the Border Security Force and the Punjab police on Saturday morning near the International Border in Amritsar.
A joint team of the Border Security Force and the Punjab Police on Saturday recovered more than 5 kilograms of heroin that was airdropped by a Pakistani drone on the outskirts of Rai village near the International Border in Punjab's Amritsar, reported news agency PTI. A BSF spokesperson said that around 2:50 AM, the joint team heard the buzzing of the unmanned aerial vehicle and the dropping of the consignment on the outskirts of the village, following which, they conducted a search operation. Subsequently, officials recovered five packets of heroin from a field. The spokesperson also said an iron ring was also found attached to the consignment during the search operation.
However, this is not happening for the first time. For instance, last month on May 28, the troops of the Border Security Forces recovered a drone (Quadcopter, DJI Matrice RTK 300) from the agricultural fields of Dhanoe Khurd village in Punjab's Amritsar.
ANI reported BSF Punjab Frontier as saying that a person was arrested with a bag containing suspected narcotics consignment of three packets weighing approx 3.4 kg.
It said that an iron hook and four luminous strips were also found attached to the consignment.
Earlier, on May 20, the Border Security Force shot down a drone in Amritsar that had violated the Indian airspace, said the BSF Punjab Frontier. The drone was intercepted by the BSF and then recovered later during a search, reported news agency ANI.
“A drone from Pakistan violated Indian Airspace & was intercepted (by fire) by BSF troops of the Amritsar Sector. During the search, a drone has been recovered. Further search operations underway. This is the fourth drone shot down by BSF in the past 2 days,” said the BSF Punjab Frontier, reported by the news agency.
On April 15 as well, the BSF shot down an intruding drone near the India-Pakistan border. The drone was spotted at Bachiwind village near the international border at 3.21 am on Saturday. BSF troops recovered three packets of heroin weighing around 3.2 kg.
