8 Pakistani Soldiers Killed, 12 Injured In Retaliatory Fire; Terror Launchpads, Army Bunkers Across LoC Destroyed

The Pakistan Army on Friday took to unprovoked firing and shelling along the LoC in 4 sectors in North Kashmir. Pakistan resorted to a ceasefire ahead of Diwali in Keran, Tanghdar, Uri, and Gurez sectors of North Kashmir.

Srinagar: At least eight soldiers of the Pakistani Army were killed and another ten to twelve were injured, after the Indian Armed forces retaliated to the ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday, according to the sources from the Indian Army. The sources also reported that, among the soldiers that were killed, two-three of them belonged to the Special Service Group (SSG) commandoes of the Pakistan Army. Pakistan resorted to a ceasefire ahead of Diwali in Keran, Tanghdar, Uri, and Gurez sectors of North Kashmir. According to the Indian Army, on Friday, November 13, suspicious movement was observed along the LoC in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir. After which the troops stationed at the post foiled the infiltration bid, which resulted in the unprovoked Ceasefire Violation from the Pakistan side, in which they used mortar bombs and other weapons. During retaliatory firing on Pakistan army positions, the Indian Army also used the Spike anti-tank guided missiles which were recently procured from Israel under an emergency acquisition case. Indian Army also released videos showing Pakistan Army positions being hit across the LoC in north Kashmir on Friday. According to the sources in the Indian Army, several ammunition dumps and multiple terrorist launch pads have been damaged. Earlier, on November 7, the armed forces foiled an infiltration bid in the Machil sector of the region, which was also termed as the biggest encounters since April, three terrorists were killed in the encounter. As per the Indian Army, three Indian Army soldiers have been Killed in Action and three soldiers injured in the action. While two Border Security Force (BSF) porters and five civilians were injured in Pakistani shelling. Around 4,052 Ceasefire violations took place alone in 2020 if compared to 3233 which happened in 2019 along the LoC. Senior intelligence and security force officials say the infiltration attempts are likely to increase before the mountain passes in J&K get closed by heavy winter snow after which chances of crossing into the Valley become minimal.
