Dr A Parmeshwaran, a 31-year-old ENT specialist from Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, remains in critical condition on ventilator support at AIIMS Delhi after sustaining gunshot injuries in a brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which occurred during his vacation with his wife, Dr Nayanthara, claimed 26 lives—mostly tourists—and left 17 others injured, making it the deadliest attack in the Valley since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.

"Dr A Parmeshwaran, a 31-year-old resident of Tamil Nadu, sustained gunshot injuries in a terror attack at Pahalgam. He suffered injuries to the neck and abdomen and underwent surgery at the Government Medical College in Anantnag. Following the procedure, he was airlifted to the Jayaprakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS New Delhi, on April 24. Currently, Dr Parmeshwaran is in the ICU on a ventilator under close medical supervision. His prognosis is guarded," press release said, as per a report on ANI.

Stalin Assures Support To Doctor's Kin

In response to the incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin personally contacted Dr Nayanthara to express his concern and extend the state's support, as reported by India Today. A 24-hour helpline has also been set up at Tamil Nadu House in Delhi to assist affected citizens.

Approximately 40 tourists from Tamil Nadu who were present in Pahalgam during the attack were safely evacuated to Delhi and have since returned to Chennai.
