WATCH | Over 5,000 Enthusiasts Take Part In Mumbai Cycling Rally On World Environment Day
The vision of the campaign is to make Mumbai the Cycling Capital of India by 2030.
New Delhi: On World Environment Day on Sunday, over 5,000 cycling enthusiasts took part in the cycle rally organised by Mumbai Police. The campaign ‘Cycle Chala City Bacha’ saw the participants from various parts of the city ride on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. According to the campaign website, “Cycle Chala City Bacha envisions to make cycling the preferred mode for commute and a way of life across all the 24 wards of Mumbai."
The website further said, “Our Vision is to make Mumbai the Cycling Capital of India by 2030. While moving towards making cycling-friendly wards, each ward has its own diversity of opportunities and challenges.”

The World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year to urge people to protect nature from widespread environmental damage.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the nodal agency that organises and supports all events across the world. This day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1974.
