Breaking: Delhi-NCR Air Pollution Worsens, GRAP-4 Imposed as AQI Crosses 500
Air pollution in Delhi-NCR has reached an extremely dangerous level, prompting authorities to impose the strictest GRAP-4 restrictions. The Air Quality Index has entered the “severe” and “hazardous” category, crossing 500 in several areas, including Noida and Greater Noida. Under GRAP-4, the entry of trucks and other heavy vehicles into Delhi has been restricted, and authorities have warned that the odd-even vehicle scheme may be implemented if conditions fail to improve. Schools are shifting to hybrid mode, with online classes for many students, while nursery to Class 5 schools have been closed in Noida and Greater Noida. Visibility has dropped sharply due to dense smog, slowing traffic and causing breathing difficulties, especially for children and the elderly. Residents have expressed strong anger over the worsening air quality and lack of effective preventive measures.
