Opposition corners Govt in RS over Mandsaur beef rumour issue

New Delhi: A massive uproar was observed in the Upper house of the parliament on Wednesday morning, after BSP supremo Mayawati raised the issue of two women being thrashed in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh over rumours of carrying beef. Mayawati lashed out heavily on the central government and said, “BJP raises 'Mahilaon ke samman mein, BJP maidan mein' slogan, yet in Madhya Pradesh women were thrashed on beef rumours”. After, Mayawati’s speech MPs stormed the well of the house and raised slogans against the BJP government. Even Congress cornered BJP over the M.P beef rumour issue, as leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Cow protection must prevail but the Dalit’s and Muslims must not be targeted in the name of protection of cow”. Later, BJP leader Mukhar Abbas Naqvi issued a clarification on the entire matter stating that “Violence in any state is condemnable, we don't justify anything. Also, M.P Government took cognizance of issue about which Mayawati ji spoke about.” “Want to restore an environment of belief and development in country. We should rise above politics on such issues and the welfare of the society should be above our personal motives”, he added. BSP chief Mayawati later took another jibe on the Government as she accused it of sheltering suspended BJP leader Dayashankar Singh in Jharkhand. “Dayashankar is hiding in Jharkhand which is ruled by BJP, clearly means he is being protected by the party”, she said. Dayashankar who is absconding after making derogatory remarks against Mayawati was spotted in Deoghar, Jharkhand on Wednesday morning.
