Sirens, Blackouts And Explosions In Punjab As Pakistan Launches Aerial Attacks

Sirens were heard in Punjab as several districts imposed blackouts after explosions were heard as Pakistani jets and drones tried to attack India.

As the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated amid Operation Sindoor, which was a response against terrorists, following the Pahalgam Attack, Pakistan mounted attacks on military installations and in civilian areas. Pakistan's continuous shelling in Jammu and Kashmir has claimed the lives of at least 16 civilians, including women and children.

Pakistan also mounted an attack on Punjab and Rajasthan, forcing blackouts in multiple districts.

In Punjab, blackouts have been imposed in Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, and other districts. Sirens were heard in Chandigarh as well.

Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said the blackout has been imposed in parts of Punjab and will remain in place till further orders. Debris of missiles have reportedly been recovered from Kumahi Devi village near Hoshiarpur's Talwara.

Blackouts were also enforced in Tarn Taran and Jaisalmer.

It has been learnt from reliable sources that a Pakistani F16 jet and two JF-17 fighter jets have been shot down by India's missile defence system in Jammu and Kashmir.
