One killed in firing after mob attacks official in Kashmir

Srinagar: One protester was killed on Tuesday evening and another injured after security personnel fired on a mob who had attacked the vehicle of an official on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said. "A mob attacked the vehicle of Additional District Magistrate, Ramban at Lethpora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway today (Tuesday) evening while he was on way to Ramban in Jammu region," a senior police officer said. "The armed guard of the magistrate fired to save the officer who barely escaped with his life after the mob torched his vehicle," said the officer, adding that one protester died in this incident and another has sustained bullet injuries. Tension has gripped Pampora, Lethpora and other adjacent areas on the highway after the incident.
