'Rusted Ball' Triggers Bomb Scare In Delhi's Mohammadpur Region

The local police and the Bomb Disposal Squad have already arrived on the scene.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police launched bomb disposal protocols on Monday after receiving information of a "grenade-like" device spotted in southwest Delhi's RK Puram, sources said, news agency PTI reported.

According to a senior police officer, they originally assumed it was a "grenade," but upon preliminary investigation, it was discovered to be a "rusted ball."

According to the officer, senior police officers and a bomb disposal unit have been dispatched to the scene.

"During the initial inquiry, we found out that the object was a rusted ball. However, we are conducting our regular drill and taking all precautions," the officer was quoted by PTI in its report.

Unattended Bag Triggered Bomb Hoax At Adarsh Nagar Railway Station

Earlier this month, a special passenger train was delayed for over 30 minutes at Adarsh Nagar railway station when an unsecured suitcase caught fire and triggered bomb fears among passengers on Monday morning.

After the police sealed off the area, a bomb disposal squad investigated the contents of the bag and discovered it was only a carpenter's tool kit, blaming the fire on friction between nails and the presence of flammable solvents within.

The 04406 Down Kurukshetra-Hazrat Nizamuddin special passenger train was detained between 9.21 a.m. and 9.45 a.m. at Adarsh Nagar railway station, according to railway officials, after a bag caught fire in the train.
