Not Interested In President’s Post, Will Continue To Serve People Of Bihar: Nitish Kumar

His remarks came days after his Cabinet colleague Shrawan Kumar claimed that the Bihar Chief Minister has all ability and experience to become the President of India.

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that he has no interest in contesting the presidential election, news agency IANS reported. “Whoever said and what it is does not matter to me. I am sorry to say but please don't print it in the news. I am serving the people of Bihar and I will continue it in future as well,” Kumar said.

“Such a speculation started some months ago but I am not interested in it. I was clarified in the past that I serve the people of Bihar and I am saying it again,” he added while interacting with the media persons after his Janata Darbar in Bihar capital Patna.

His remarks came days after his Cabinet colleague Shrawan Kumar claimed that the Bihar Chief Minister has all ability and experience to become the President of India.

Janata Dal (United) leader Shrawan Kumar, who is Bihar’s Rural Development Minister, had earlier said that Nitish Kumar is a “Sarva Gun Sampanna” leader having a long political career in the country as well the experience and ability to hold the post and successfully run it.

Echoing similar sentiments, Bihar’s Building Construction Minister Ashok Chaudhary on his part said there is no bigger socialist leader than Nitish Kumar in the country and even leaders of the other parties appreciate it.

The tenure of present President Ram Nath Kovind is ending on July 24.

The presidential poll will be scheduled on July 18 and its result will be declared on July 21.
