Rajasthan Govt Announces That Night Curfew Will Continue Even After May 31
Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has asked for strict enforcement of night curfew even after May 31 to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.
New Delhi: The Rajasthan government has announced that night curfew in the state will continue even after May 31. According to a report by PTI, the chief minister Ashok Gehlot has asked for strict enforcement of curfew after 7 PM to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Gehlot discussed this on Friday during a high-level meeting review at his residence. The curfew will be put in place only on severely affected areas and the minister has directed the authorities to ‘reschedule prohibited area as per the number of active infected cases.
Gehlot also stressed the need for proper compliance to ensure the safety of people and said that there should be no leniency in a penalty the Rajasthan Pandemic Ordinance. According to the ordinance, those breaking lockdown and pandemic regulations stipulated by the government can be punished with two years in jail or charged with fine up to Rs 10,000.
At present, the state has recorded a total of 2937 coronavirus cases according to data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Around 5244 have recovered and 184 fatalities have occurred because of the infection. India is the fourth phase of lockdown 4.0 which is supposed to come to an end on May 31. In the ongoing Lockdown, relaxations were given to restart many activities but there was still a restriction on movement after 7 PM till 7 AM. On Thursday, States and Union territories were asked to give suggestions on the future of the lockdown after May 31 during a meeting of Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba. During the meeting, several states expressed their interest in the opening of salons, metros, and religious places.
