Narada Sting Case: No Relief For TMC Leaders, HC To Hear Bail Plea On Thursday

The hearing of the CBI plea to transfer the case to any other state remained inconclusive in the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court will on Thursday continue its hearing in the Narada sting case in which four Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

This as the hearing of the CBI plea to transfer the case to any other state remained inconclusive in the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday.

The accused will remain in the CBI custody till Wednesday. All four arrested have been moved to special cells in Presidency Jail in Kolkata

The Calcutta High Court had earlier issued a stay order on the bail of the four leaders – West Bengal ministers Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee, TMC MLA Madan Mitra and former Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee – arrested in connection with the case

Earlier on Monday, the Bankshall Court had granted bail to the four TMC leaders.

The arrests on Monday sparked massive protests outside the CBI office and the Raj Bhawan in Kolkata.

The protestors demanded immediate release of the four arrested and raised slogans against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre and West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar.

The four were arrested for allegedly “demanding and accepting illegal gratification to show favour to a private person who was posing as a representative of a fictitious company”. The alleged act was captured on camera.
