MP: Case registered against Congress MLA Shakuntala Khatik over her 'controversial statement'

Case registered against Shakuntala Khatik
Madhya Pradesh: Days after Congress MLA Shakuntala Khatik was surrounded by controversies after a video emerged, where she was seen inciting a mob to burn a police station in Indore, a police case has been registered against her. Shakuntala had on Monday refuted the charges against her of inciting the mob saying, "I didn’t instigate the workers. Would they have remained silent, had I asked them to do so?" Khatik further said that she only told the police officers that they shouldn’t sit in the police station and go ahead to set it on fire, if they can’t ensure women safety. A controversial video emerged from Indore showing Congress MLA Shakuntala Khatik inciting party workers and farmers to burn down a nearby police station. The inflammatory speech was caught on camera and has gone viral. She is said to be close to senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia. The video was also shared by Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya on Twitter. Khatik defending herself has said the video is twisted to malign her image. Since the violence has broken out in the state, BJP has accused the Congress party of instigating farmers to turn violent and resort to large scale arsoning. Speaking to ABP News, BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said," farmers are peacefully raising their issues but Congress leaders and workers are indulging in violence. We have registered cases against them."
