MoUs Signed For Post-Retirement Opportunities For Veterans: Army Chief On Armed Force Veterans Day

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari attended the 7th Army Veterans Day. Speaking on the occasion he said that Armed Forces Veterans day is a momentous occasion to honour sacrifices made by our veterans.

New Delhi: The Chief Of Army Staff General Manoj Pande on Saturday, attended the 7th Army Veterans Day. Speaking on the occasion. Pande said that MoUs have been signed for post-retirement opportunities for veterans. He also said that the nation is proud of our army veterans. "Nation proud of our army veterans. Have signed MoUs with railway, metro & leading corporate houses for job opportunities for army veterans after retirement," Pande said.

The Army Chief further said the planning is going on to increase the number of empanelled hospitals & reimbursement claims have been made online, polyclinic budget has been increased. Armed Forces Veterans day is a momentous occasion to commemorate & honour made by our veterans. Chaudhari said I pay homage to all those veterans who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Directorate of Air Veterans has done creditable work in assisting air veterans with their financial matters & finding placements in the civil sector through placement cells, he added.

Chaudhari also said that as part of the digital mission initiative of the government, ‘Sparsh’ has been operationalised. "As part of the digital mission initiative of the government, ‘Sparsh’ has been operationalised, this system will bring transparency to pension processing," VR Chaudhari said.

Chief Of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar also attended the 7th Army Veterans Day. "Armed forces today are a product of the efforts, visionary leadership, aspirations & selfless service put in by each one of our veterans," R. Hari Kumar said.

He also said that the Indian navy follows a multi-prolonged approach including care, creative solutions and communication. "Indian navy follows multi-prolonged approach including care, creative solutions & communication. The care & welfare of the veteran community is a top priority," he added.

"Landmark MoU with the DG Shipping towards recognition of Indian navy training & sea service for transition to the merchant navy as well as MoUs with 9 corporates for employment of ex-servicemen & next of kin are in the direction, he further said.

The Armed Forces Veterans Day is celebrated on 14th January as on this very day, January 14 1953, the First Indian Commander in Chief (C-in-C) of the Indian Army- Field Marshal KM Cariappa, who led Indian Forces to Victory in the 1947 war, had formally retired from the Services. The Day is celebrated as Armed Forces Veterans Day and is dedicated to our esteemed Veterans.

The First Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated on January 14, 2016, and it was decided to commemorate this day every year by hosting such interactive events in the honor of our Armed Forces Veterans and their families.
