Monsoon Update: IMD Issues Red Alert For 5 Districts Of Maharashtra, Mumbai To Receive Heavy Rainfall
The Meteorological Department has issued an 'Orange Alert' for Mumbai between Wednesday and Friday, according to which heavy to very heavy rains may occur.
Mumbai Rain Forecast Update: The Southwest Monsoon is active across the country due to which it is heavily raining in most parts of India. A 'Red Alert' of rain has been issued for 5 districts of Maharashtra. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Mumbai and Konkan today. An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall here. According to the Mumbai Center of IMD, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rains in Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur and Satara.
A red alert has been issued in these districts for Wednesday and Thursday. The department said that extremely heavy rain means that the places may receive more than 204.5 mm of rain in 24 hours. According to the department, there may be light rain in the Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of the state till Friday.
Heavy rain likely in west coastal areas till July 23
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in North India till July 21 and in the western coastal areas till July 23. The IMD said that during the next 24 hours, lightning, thunder and thundershowers are expected at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan.
Heavy to very heavy precipitation is expected over the western Himalayan region (Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) and adjoining north-west Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of Madhya Pradesh till July 21. After July 21, these areas will experience decreased rainfall.
