Monsoon To Intensify Across India, Expect Heavy Rainfall In Northwest, Central, And East

Severe Rainfall Alert: The IMD has forecast active monsoon conditions across India from June 30 to July 6. Northwest, Central, and East India are also likely to experience heavy rainfall.

Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday, June 30, 2025, that active monsoon conditions are likely to persist over many parts of Northwest, Central, and East India for the next 6-7 days.

East & Central India

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh from June 30 to July 6, as per the IMD. Bihar and Odisha will also experience isolated heavy rainfall from June 30 to July 4.

Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal will see isolated heavy rainfall on June 30, July 1, and again from July 4-6. Very heavy rainfall is particularly likely over Madhya Pradesh on June 30, July 1, 4 & 5, East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on June 30, July 1, 3 & 4, Bihar from June 30 to July 2, and Odisha from June 30 to July 39.

Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is expected across the region for the next 7 days.

Northwest India

Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and East Rajasthan are forecast to receive isolated heavy rainfall from June 30 to July 6.

Haryana & Chandigarh will experience similar conditions from June 30 to July 2, and again on July 5 & 6. West Rajasthan is also bracing for isolated heavy rainfall from July 3-6.

Very heavy rainfall is highly probable over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh on June 30 and July 1, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana on June 30, and East Rajasthan on July 5. The region will generally see light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over the next 7 days

West India

Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Konkan & Goa, the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat for the next 7 days.

Northeast India

Northeast India will also get light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall will continue for the next 7 days. Very heavy rainfall is specifically predicted for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on July 2 & 3, and Assam and Meghalaya on July 6.

South India

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on June 30, Kerala & Mahe from July 2-4, Coastal Karnataka from June 30 to July 6, and Interior Karnataka from July 3-5. Strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely over South Peninsular India for the next seven days.
