Modi Cabinet 2024: Senior BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S Jaishankar have been retained while many new faces have emerged from the NDA coalition.
Modi Cabinet 2024: Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, marking his third consecutive term in office. This historic event makes him only the second Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to achieve this feat. Modi took the oath in the name of God, administered by President Droupadi Murmu.
Alongside Modi, senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S. Jaishankar were sworn in as cabinet ministers, reflecting the Prime Minister's focus on continuity and experience. Notably, these leaders held prominent positions in Modi's previous term. Party president J.P. Nadda returned to the cabinet after a five-year hiatus, while former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and ex-Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar joined the cabinet as new faces.
JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy, HAM (Secular) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, JD(U) leader Lalan Singh, and TDP's K. Ram Mohan Naidu were inducted as ministers.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar. Bollywood icons Shahrukh Khan and Rajinikanth, along with industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, were also present. Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge attended, despite many opposition leaders opting to skip the ceremony.
Special guests included leaders from India's neighbouring countries and the Indian Ocean region, such as Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh Premier Sheikh Hasina, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Bhutanese PM Tshering Tobgay, and Seychelles Vice-President Ahmed Afif.
