MNS Chief Raj Thackeray's son Amit getting married today; Uddhav arrives to bless nephew

In the last few months, the otherwise strained relation between the two cousins, Raj and Udhav, has seen improvement.

New Delhi: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray’s marriage with doctor Sanjay Borude’s daughter Mitali, proved as an appeaser for the relation of the two Thackeray cousins. All eyes were on Uddhav Thackeray as he along with his family arrived to give blessings to the couple. In the last few months, the otherwise strained ties between the two cousins has seen improvement. Raj Thackeray who stood by Bal Thackeray at every occasion was disappointed when Bal Thackeray during his retirement announcement made his son Uddhav Thackeray the executive president of Shiv Sena. An irked, Raj had then formed his separate party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). It was after this, when the relation between Raj and Uddhav soured. However, Raj had made it clear that framing a new party does not mean he is harbouring any sort of animosity with his uncle Bal Thackeray. There were several occasions when Raj Thackeray would go to visit ailing Bal Thackeray along with his wife and son. He also makes it appoint to attend the events organised in the remembrance of Bal Thackeray. In the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly election, MNS could manage to win only one seat, after which speculations about Uddhav and Raj coming together again, were rife. However, none of them have made any announcement in this direction. While Raj chose not to invite PM Modi in his son’s wedding, he did extend an invitation to Congress President Rahul Gandhi, but he could not turn up.
