BRS MLC Kavitha Urges Postponement Of Miss World 2025 In Telangana Amid Indo-Pak Tensions

BRS Kavitha expressed concern over hosting a global entertainment event at a time when the country is navigating what she described as a “war-like situation.”

In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Kalvakuntla Kavitha has called on the Telangana government to defer the upcoming Miss World 72 pageant, scheduled to be held in the state.

Kavitha, who also serves as President of Telangana Jagruti, expressed concern over hosting a global entertainment event at a time when the country is navigating what she described as a “war-like situation.” Drawing parallels with the postponement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in times of national crisis, she warned that going ahead with the event could attract criticism and appear insensitive to the prevailing atmosphere, as per a report on ANI.

Taking to X, Kavitha said, "I sincerely urge the Telangana government to consider postponing the 72nd Miss World event in light of the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. At this time, our focus must remain on national unity, peace, and security."

“We should not appear very trivial in making such decisions. We should not appear like we are sponsoring an entertainment programme at this point of time, so I strongly request the Telangana state government to reschedule this Miss World event because IPL is a very huge Entity and it also has been rescheduled paying respects to the armed forces,” she told PTI videos.

Meanwhile, demonstrating her support for the armed forces and the government's Operation Sindoor — India’s recent military response to the Pahalgam terror attack — Kavitha led a massive rally in Hyderabad on Friday. The procession, which began at Indira Park and concluded at RTC Cross Road, saw enthusiastic participation from party members and citizens, all voicing solidarity with the Indian Army.
