Milk Gets Costlier: After Mother Dairy, Amul Hikes Prices From May 1 | Check New Rates

Amul has announced a price hike for its milk products, effective from May 1, 2025. The price of various milk variants will be increased by Rs. 2 per litre.

A day after Mother Dairy increased the price of milk, Amul on Wednesday also announced a price hike for its milk products. The revised prices will come into effect from Thursday, May 1, 2025.

In its official announcement, Amul stated that prices of various milk variants will be increased by Rs. 2 per litre starting tomorrow.

The hike will apply across key Amul milk variants, including Amul Standard Milk, Buffalo Milk, Gold, Slim & Trim, Tea Special, Taza, and Cow Milk. Now, the price of 500 ml of full cream buffalo milk will go up from Rs.36 to Rs.37, while the 1-litre pack will now cost Rs.73 instead of Rs.71.

Earlier, Mother Dairy had increased milk prices by ₹2 per litre from April 30, 2025, citing a sharp rise in procurement costs. Mother Dairy, which supplies about 3.5 million litres of milk daily in the Delhi-NCR region, attributed the hike to increased input costs and early onset of summer leading to heatwave conditions.

A company official noted that procurement costs have risen by Rs.4–5 per litre over the past few months. Mother Dairy said nearly 70–80% of its retail price goes directly to dairy farmers, justifying the price revision as necessary for sustainability amid rising costs.

In Delhi-NCR, Mother Dairy’s revised prices are as follows:

• Toned milk (bulk): Rs.56/litre (up from Rs.54)
• Full-cream (pouch): Rs.69/litre (up by Rs.1)
• Toned milk (pouch): Rs.57/litre (up by Rs.1)
• Double-toned milk: Rs.51/litre (up by Rs.2)
• Cow milk: Rs.59/litre (up from Rs.57)

For 500 ml packs, the new prices are:

• Full-cream: Rs.35
• Toned: Rs.29
• Double-toned: Rs.26
• Cow milk: Rs.30
