NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission on Friday declared the results of Civil Services Exam 2017 and Anu Kumari of Sonipat is feeling like being "on the top of the word" after securing the second position in the coveted examination. "I am elated after the results. I would like to thank my family, friends and well-wishers for their prayers and wishes," she said. Anu said she studied for 10-12 hours daily to clear the examinations. "Besides the daily routine activities, I devoted all my time to studies." "The feeling right now is surreal. It's like it has not sunk in yet. It's like a dream as if it's not a reality. It will take some time," an overjoyed Anu said. Anu is married and has a four-year-old child. She has also worked for nine years in the private sector. Expressing deep concern over the ongoing crimes against women and children, Anu said her topmost priority would be to tackle such crimes. "IAS is my first preference because I want to serve my country by being here. To tackle crimes and atrocities against women and children will be my top priority so that they can feel safe in their country and at their homes," she added. Anu has graduated with BSc (Hons) in Physics from the Delhi University and has done an MBA (Finance and Marketing) from IMT, Nagpur. A total of 990 candidates -- 750 men and 240 women -- have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various central government services.
