Former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis demanded the arrest of a police officer in Mansukh Hiran’s death case while Home Minister Anil Deshmukh blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader for covering up the Anvay Naik suicide case during his tenure.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Assembly witnessed unruly scenes on Tuesday as the members of the opposition and government cornered each other on various issues.

Fadnavis demanded police officer Sachin Vaze’s arrest for the alleged murder of Hiran, the man who owned the car found with SUV outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence last month.

The Home Minister while pointing fingers at the former chief minister raked up the Naik suicide case and said the present government will probe the cover-up of the case by the former regime.

Fadnavis while citing the statement by Hiran’s wife claimed that the police officer was in possession of the car for four months.

The former chief minister also claimed that Hiran’s wife had alleged in her statement to the police that her husband may have been killed by assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze.

“She had also said her husband was with Vaze on February 27, 28 and March 2. The complaint letter addressed to the chief minister, deputy chief minister and police commissioners of Mumbai and Thane was written on the instructions of Vaze,” PTI quoted Fadnavis as saying.

The BJP leader further said Vaze was being protected as he belonged to the ruling party.

As Fadnavis raised Hiran’s case, Transport Minister and Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab sought the arrest of those named in suicide note of Lok Sabha member Mohan Delkar.
