Mann Ki Baat @50 highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio broadcast 'Mann ki Baat' completed 50 episodes today. In his monthly radio broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his thoughts with the people through All India Radio (AIR). "We began the 'Mann Ki Baat' journey on 3rd October 2014 and today we have the Golden Jubilee episode," PM said. He revealed why he started the show and also spoke about the initial concerns surrounding it. Modi said initially there was apprehension about the show and many questioned the necessity of a radio programme. He said sometimes people mocked the radio program, but this programme is about people, not politics, he said. "I realised the power of radio back in 1998 when while travelling in Himachal Pradesh a dhaba owner told me that India has conducted a nuclear test." Modi recalled. Modi said he was surprised to see how he a dhaba owner in a remote jungle came to know about the nuclear test and that incident made him realise the reach of radio.

• PM said most people believe that the greatest contribution of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has been an enhancement of feeling of positivity in our society. Modi said people are connecting with this programme and ensuring their participation through TV, FM Radio, Mobile, Internet, Facebook Live; along with periscope, through NarendraModiApp too. • PM recalled why he opted for a radio programme • PM shared interesting survey on 'Mann Ki Baat.' • He said 'Mann Ki Baat' has promoted many mass revolutions: • PM said this programme remained apolitical. "Some young friends attempted study over many episodes of MannKiBaat. They did analysis of all episodes to calculate frequency of occurrence of particular words; whether words that were oft-repeated! One of their findings was that, this programme remained apolitical," PM Narendra Modi said in Mann Ki Baat. • PM praised the AIR team. He said the team from All India Radio prepared each episode for broadcast in a number of regional languages. "Some of them very aptly narrate in a voice and style resembling that of Modi’s. In this way for those 30 minutes they become Narendra Modi" PM Narendra Modi said. • PM expressed gratitude to the various people, youth and media who helped. "Today’s youths have this special quality that they won’t do anything which they do not believe themselves and whenever they believe in something, they follow that leaving everything else," said PM Modi. • PM Modi also spoke on constitution day. PM Modi in 50th Mann Ki Baat said, "Tomorrow is Constitution Day. Our Constitution was adopted on 26th November, 1949. The Constituent Assembly took 2 years 11 months and 17 days to accomplish this stupendous task of drafting Constitution." • PM Modi paid tribute to Baba Saheb Ambedkar. "My dear countrymen, while talking about Constituent Assembly, contribution of Dr. #BabaSahebAmbedkar cannot be forgotten who played pivotal role in Constituent Assembly" PM Modi said. • PM also pays tribute to Guru Nanak Dev. PM said, "My dear countrymen, two days back on 23rd November, we all celebrated Shri #GuruNana Dev Jayanti and next year in 2019 we shall be celebrating his 550th Prakash Parv." The PM’s speech is aired on All India Radio, Doordarshan and the Narendra Modi mobile app. The YouTube channels of the Prime Minister’s Office, information and broadcasting ministry and allindiaradio.gov.in will also air the speech. All India Radio will also broadcast the programme in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast.
