New Delhi: In a customary address, President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the joint sitting of Parliament in the Central Hall on Thursday morning. During his speech, President Kovind discussed major achievements of the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the upcoming agendas of the government.
  1. President lauded female voters for their participation in electoral process and said, “This time, women have voted more than before and their participation has been almost equal to that of men. Millions of youth have played an important role in building India’s future by voting for the first time. All voters deserve congratulations for the success of this election”.
  2. He also laid focus the need for water conservation. “We have to conserve water for our future generations. In this direction, creation of Jal Shakti Ministry is a decisive step” President Kovind asserted.
  3. He also spoke about the growing start-up culture in India and said “Today, India is among the countries in the world that have most number of start-ups”.
  4. Laying focus on various measures taken up by the government for Indian farmers, President said “Prime Minister Kisaan Samaan Nidhi” will be extended to every farmer in the country. In the coming year, an investment of Rs 25 lakh crore will be done and by year 2022, the farmer income is likely to double as the government has taken several steps working towards the same” he said.
  5. To ensure equal rights for women the evil custom of “Triple Talaq” and “Nikaah-Halala” will be abolished: President Kovind
  6. President also spoke about Insolvency and asserted, “Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code are among the leading and substantial plans to improve the economy of India”.
  7. President Kovind said the government will announce a “New Industrial Policy” soon.
  8. “Today the whole world stands on the issue of terrorism with India. It is a big evidence to declare Masood Azhar, who is responsible for the major terrorist attacks in the country, by the United Nations as a global terrorist” President said.
  9. Today, India has become a new identity and our relations with other countries have become stronger. It is a matter of happiness that India will host the G-20 Summit in 2022: President Kovind
