Maharashtra Suspends Vaccination Drive Till Jan 18 Due To Glitch In CoWIN App

Mumbai: The Coronavirus vaccination drive has been suspended in the entire state of Maharashtra till January 18 due to some techincal issue with CoWIN app, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Saturday night. Co-WIN app allows registration for the vaccination.
"Digital registration is mandatory for COVID-19 vaccination, but on the first day of the drive today, the government had allowed offline registration in case of any technical problem," the civic body said in a statement.
However, the state government has now directed that all further registration should be made through the app, it added.
In view of this direction and problems with the Co-WIN app, inoculation in Mumbai will be suspended while the Union government removes the problem, an official said.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government halted Covid-19 vaccination drive for a day on Sunday to observe those who recieved the jibe today.

A total of 2,810 of the 3,900 registered beneficiaries in Maharashtra's Marathwada region were vaccinated on the first of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, with three of them complaining of itching and fever but none requiring hospitalisation, officials said on Saturday.
As per reports, in Aurangabad, 647 of 1,000 registered persons were vaccinated, while these figures were 200 out of 200 in Hingoli, 287 out of 400 in Jalna, 371 out of 400 in Parbhani, 451 out of 500 in Beed, 379 of 600 in Latur, 213 out of 300 in Osmanabad and 262 out of 500 in Nanded.
"There were minor health issues reported with three persons who got the vaccine in Aurangabad district. Two of them had fever and one had itching. But none of them needed hospitalization," Civil Surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni told news agency PTI.
Exactly 10 months after recording the first Covid-19 death, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray flagged off the much-anticipated Coronavirus vaccination drive, terming it as "a revolutionary step", even as thousands of eligible people queued up for their life-saver jab across the state.
