Twitter Flooded With Hilarious Memes & Jokes After People Throng Liquor Shops For Booze Amid Lockdown

Hundreds of people were seen in long-queues outside liquor stories on Monday morning to get their stock of booze, with social distancing norms being thrown in vain at most places.

New Delhi: With faces hopeful of saying 'cheers' after a 40-day Coronavirus lockdown imposed by the government keeping them home and dry, tipplers across the country thronged to liquor shops on Monday morning to buy their favour alcoholic beverages from licensed liquor stores. As the third phase of nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of deadly Coronavirus started from Monday, the government relaxed restrictions for several non-essential services across the country. Amongst all those relaxation, opening of liquor shops after almost 6 dry weeks, created the maximum buzz in the morning. Hundreds of people were seen in long-queues outside liquor stories on Monday morning to get their stock of booze, with social distancing norms being thrown in vain at most places. Even firecrackers were burnt and buyers showered with flowers outside wines shops in certain areas. Amid all these hullabaloo, Twitter, like always, did what it does the best - went all hands on deck to up its meme game. With further easing of lockdown norms in green and orange zones for shops and establishments, hundreds of liquor shops reopened for brisk business, as tipplers stood in queues hours before their shutters were pulled up. Sensing trouble on the first day of sale due to heavy rush, police personnel have been deployed at several liquor shops in many cities and towns to prevent untoward incident and ensure law and order.
