'Those Spending Cold Mornings At Borders': CJI's Tribute To Armed Forces On Christmas

As he took part in Christmas celebrations at Supreme Court, CJI Chandrachud reminded the people of the sacrifices made by the armed forces to protect the country and urged all to not forget about them.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud appealed to people not to forget about the armed forces and their sacrificies to protect the country as they celebrated Christmas. His message paying tribute to the country's bravehearts during the celebrations at the Supreme Court came days after four army personnel were killed in an ambush in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri.

He said, "We will give up everything, even if it comes to our lives as so many people in our Armed Forces do in the service of the nation. We lost four of our members of the Armed Forces two days ago (in Poonch encounter); So, as just we celebrate Christmas, let's not forget about those who are at borders who are giving up their lives to protect our nation," says Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud during Christmas celebrations at Supreme Court.

"Let us not forget those on the borders who are spending these cold mornings protecting us and our nation. When we sing, we also sing for them in celebration," he added.

Four soldiers lost their lives while three others were left injured after heavily armed terrorist ambushed their vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri. The soldiers were on their way to the site of a cordon-and-search operation when their vehicle came under attack at around 3.45 pm.

A Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) wing, the People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, Army Chief General Manoj Pande reached Jammu on Monday to review the security situation in the region after the deadly ambush resulting in the deaths of the Jawans. Later, he left for the Rajouri-Poonch sector to review the preparedness of the force and the security there.

Mobile internet was suspended in Poonch and Rajouri for the third day after the killing of three civilians on early Saturday. Officials told PTI that a massive search operation was still underway in the region.
