Lalu Yadav Kidney Functioning At 40%, Conditions Can Deteriorate Anytime Soon, Says RIMS Doctors

"Lalu Prasad Yadav's kidney function can deteriorate at any time. It is difficult to predict. It is obviously alarming and I have given it in writing to authorities," said Dr Umesh Prasad who is treating Yadav.

Medical report of Rashtriya Janata Party (RJD) and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav, suggested that his kidney function can deteriorate anytime. Yadav who is serving his prison sentence is currently admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.

The former CM’s bail plea was rejected thrice on November 6, November 27 and December 11 in the withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from Dumka Treasury case.

Recently, the former Railway minister landed into trouble after an audiotape went viral, in which he allegedly tried to bribe a legislator. Following the matter, an FIR was lodged against him for allegedly luring an MLA with the offer of a ministerial berth and for violating jail norms.

The RJD founder was shifted to his old address from sprawling 1 Kelly Bungalow to A11, a private ward on the first floor of RIMS in Ranchi on November 26, after 3 PILs were filed against him in the Jharkhand High Court for violation of the jail manual.

According to the team of doctors at RIMS, Yadav has been diagnosed with a heart ailment, diabetes and hypertension. His kidney is functioning at less than 40 per cent and conditions can deteriorate any time soon. His kidneys are functioning at stage 4 and the doctor treating him had said earlier that further deterioration in his condition would lead to new problems in which case, the RJD chief would need dialysis.
