Now Lalu Yadav defines what 'sanskari bahu' means
NEW DELHI: After reports surfaced that former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi is looking for 'homely bahus' for his minister sons, her husband and RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday came up with a definition of 'sanskari bahus'.
Lalu said a 'sanskari bahu' doesn't mean veiled, home bound or a dependent lady.
"Sanskari bahu doesn't mean veiled, home bound, dependent lady. It means strong willed, loving, caring lady, whether working woman or housewife," Lalu tweeted.
Earlier, Bihar minister Tejashwi Yadav also slammed media reports suggesting Rabri doesn't want mall going girls for her sons and said that the phrase well cultured or sanskari bahu has a broader context attached to it. "Well cultured or "संस्कारी बहू" has a broader context. Media unnecessarily imposing its constipated view of the term. Get back to real issues," he said.Sanskari bahu doesn't mean veiled, home bound, dependent lady. It means strong willed, loving, caring lady, whthr working women or housewife https://t.co/7sWidNJo9x

"The girls should be good looking and homely so that they look after family matters inside and outside the home," she was quoted as saying by PTI. Reacting to reports Rabri said she was misquoted by the media, which “twisted” her comments. On the occasion of Lalu ji's birthday, when I was asked, I kept my thoughts in front of the journalists about sansakari bahu". However, I was misquoted by the media which twisted my comments. "I did not say that I do not want mall or cinema-going daughters-in-law. Neither do I underestimate the self-supporting and self-reliant nature of film actors who work in movies nor I oppose women's freedom or independent life-style. There was no mention of the mall. I am associated with social life and wish that every woman should establish a strong identity for herself socially in a male-dominated society," she said in a Facebook post.
