The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the ghat regions of Wayanad, Malappuram, and Idukki districts on Wednesday (June 25) and Thursday (June 26) as heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected due to the strengthening of cross-equatorial wind flow. The warning indicates the possibility of 7–20 cm of rainfall within 24 hours, potentially leading to hazardous conditions in the region.

Rainfall was reported at most places in Kerala and a few locations in Lakshadweep. The heaviest spells recorded (9 cm each) were from Munnar (Idukki), Vythiri (Wayanad), and Sengulam Dam AWS (Idukki).
The forecast suggests that rain or thundershowers are likely at most places across Kerala and Lakshadweep in the coming days.

IMD Advisory
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall advisory highlighting several potential hazards and urging both the public and authorities to exercise caution. Heavy downpours may lead to significantly reduced visibility, resulting in traffic congestion across urban areas. Low-lying regions are particularly at risk of waterlogging and flash floods, while strong winds could uproot trees, potentially damaging power lines and kutcha houses. In hilly regions, there is a heightened threat of landslides, mudslides, and land slips, as per IMD.
Agricultural areas may also suffer, with the risk of damage to standing crops, seed displacement, and poor germination due to soil erosion. Additionally, people working or moving in open areas are vulnerable to lightning strikes.
