Kedarnath shrine opens for devotees, new features including laser show added
This year's yatra would have several new features, including a daily laser show on Lord Shiva, to make the visitors' experience even more cherishable.
New Delhi: The portals of Kedarnath temple, the pilgrimage of utmost religious importance for Hindus, have opened ceremoniously on Sunday in the presence of Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and governor KK Paul.
The religious significance of the temple built in Mahabharat era was manifested as the devotees swarmed in massive number with pomp and show for the first glimpse of the god. The Kedarnath shrine is situated around 3000 meters from sea level. The doors of the self-evolving shrine remain closed for six months and remain open for the other six months. CM Trivendra Singh Rawat extended a warm welcome to devotes visiting the famous shrine in Garhwal Himalayas. CM Rawat said: “This year's yatra would have several new features, including a daily laser show on Lord Shiva, to make the visitors' experience even more cherishable.” CM Rawat shared a video of the scared shrine by Uttarakhand tourism, showing the pre-opening arrangements on Saturday night.Portals of Kedarnath shrine have opened today. All necessary arrangements like adequate electricity, water, health and safety have been made by the state government to facilitate a smooth yatra for the pilgrims. CM Rawat said that on the trek route from Gaurikund to Kedarnatth , availability of doctors has been ensured at every kilometer. Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines have already been reopened while the gates of Badrinath will be reopened on Apr 30. The gates of these temples are closed every winter due to snow-bound conditions.
