Karni Sena President Murder: Protests End With Suspension Of 2 Cops, Last Rites Today

The protest over the killing of Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was ended on Wednesday after two cops were suspended.

Members of the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena on Wednesday ended their protest over the murder of the outfit's chief after a consensus was reached in which the Station House Officer of Jaipur's Shyam Nagar Police Station and beat constable were decided to be suspended, reported ANI. Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Jaipur on Tuesday after which protests were triggered in various cities.

Gogmedi's last rites will be performed on Thursday morning and his wife, Sheela Shekhawat requested the protestors to pay their last respects to her husband on Thursday morning.

"I request you all to come to pay last respects tomorrow morning. On December 10, a tribute meeting will be held at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan," she said while addressing the protestors in Jaipur.

She also called for a Rajasthan bandh to be observed on Thursday.

"Rajasthan bandh has to be observed tomorrow also. I call upon the Rajputs of the entire country to come here in maximum numbers because today Sukhdev Singh has become their (criminals') target, tomorrow any one of us can become their target," Sheela said.

Protests erupted in several parts of Rajasthan over the Rajput leader's murder resulting in closure of the markets while protestors blocked roads and stopped trains on Wednesday following a call for bandh by the outfit.

Governor Kalraj Mishra dialled Union Home Minister Amit Shah and summoned the state chief secretary, home secretary, police chief and Jaipur police commissioner to review the law and order situation in the state.
