Earlier, a case was filed on November 16 against former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister KS Eshwarappa for allegedly issuing threats against Muslims and making inflammatory comments while attacking the Congress government over the Waqf controversy, according to a report on India Today.

The complaint, filed by police officer Sidde Gowda H.M., accused Eshwarappa of alleging "Islamisation" by the Congress-led Karnataka government and warning of potential communal unrest, according to The Hindu. Earlier this year, Eshwarappa was expelled from the BJP for six years after contesting the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate, defying party directives.

He also accused Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra and veteran leader BS Yediyurappa of sidelining his son, KE Kantesh, by denying him a ticket to contest from the Haveri constituency.
