Security Breach During PM's Mysuru Roadshow As Mobile Phone Lobbed At Modi. WATCH

The security of PM Modi's protective cover was breached on Sunday when a mobile phone was thrown at his vehicle.

The security of PM Modi's protective cover was breached on Sunday when a mobile phone was thrown at his vehicle. The security breach was seen near Mysuru's KR Circle during PM Narendra Modi's roadshow.

A huge crowd gathered in Mysuru during the Prime Minister’s roadshow on Sunday ahead of the Karnataka elections. Among the crowd were locals, tourists, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters gathered on both sides of the road and greeted the Prime Minister by showering flower petals on him. That's when the incident happened.

A video of the incident showed the phone narrowly missing PM Modi. His security officer seemed to notice the mobile phone, but it was too late to catch or deflect it as it struck the bonnet of the open-top vehicle, by which PM Modi was travelling.

The Prime Minister, who wore the traditional Mysuru 'Peta' and a saffron shawl, was accompanied by Mysuru MP Pratap Simha, former ministers KS Eshwarappa and SA Ramadas. Eshwarappa recently announced his retirement from electoral politics, while sitting MLA Ramadas was denied a ticket to contest in the May 10 election to the 224-member Karnataka Assembly.

During the entire roadshow, PM Modi was greeted with BJP flags, festoons and the Prime Minister’s posters and cutouts. A cultural troupe of men and women in traditional attire also walked all along the road.

SECURITY BREACH IN PUNJAB

The Mysuru incident was a reminder of the breach in PM Modi's security cover in Punjab when he was stranded on a flyover for 20 minutes due to a blockade by protesters. The security breach cut short his visit ahead of the Punjab elections. In March this year, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann ordered disciplinary action against former DGP S Chattopadhyaya and two other senior officers over the incident. Prior to that, a Supreme Court-appointed panel indicted several officers in the case.
