Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Responds After Deposing Before Lokayukta Police: 'I Have Told The Truth'
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah maintained his innocence, claiming that a "false case" had been filed against him.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, after appearing before the Lokayukta police on Wednesday in connection with the MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) site allotment case, stated that he had answered all questions posed to him and provided the authorities with the "truth." Siddaramaiah, who is named as accused number one in the FIR lodged by the Lokayukta police, faces allegations of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites to his wife, Parvathi BM, by MUDA.
The Lokayukta police questioned Siddaramaiah for nearly two hours on Wednesday. Speaking to the media after his deposition, the CM asserted, as per PTI, "Everything has happened legally, and the BJP and JD(S) are making false allegations against me. I have answered all questions posed by the Lokayukta police, and they have recorded my statements."
Siddaramaiah maintained his innocence, claiming that a "false case" had been filed against him, and emphasised that he had been truthful in his responses to the questioning. When asked if the Lokayukta police had informed him that he might be called in for further questioning, the CM replied, "No."
"The questioning lasted for about two hours," a Lokayukta official said, as per PTI.
The CM had appeared before the Lokayukta police in response to the summons issued to him with the questioning led by Lokayukta Superintendent of Police (SP) TJ Udesh. His wife, Parvathi BM, who is named as accused number two in the case, was questioned by the Lokayukta police on October 25.
The FIR, filed by the Mysuru-based Lokayukta police on September 27, also names Siddaramaiah's brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy and Devaraju, from whom Swamy purchased a piece of land that was later gifted to Parvathi. Swamy and Devaraju have already given their statements to the Lokayukta police.
