J&K Police Files Challan Against Three JeM Militants Before TADA Court
In a statement issued here by the Srinagar police, on February 2, this year, some unknown militants hurled a grenade on CRPF personnel, with the intention to kill them, who were deployed near Sumo Stand, Pratap Park Srinagar.
J&K: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday filed a charge sheet against three militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit before TADA court for lobbing a grenade at CRPF men at Pratap Park area of Lal Chowk, Srinagar in February this year. The trio, according to the police were tasked to carry out a series of grenade attacks in Srinagar. In a statement issued here by the Srinagar police, on February 2, this year, some unknown militants hurled a grenade on CRPF personnel, with the intention to kill them, who were deployed near Sumo Stand, Pratap Park Srinagar. “The grenade exploded with a bang causing injuries to (07) civilians and (02) CRPF personnel of 171 Bn,” the statement said. Police Station Kothibagh took cognizance of the incident and registered case FIR No.10/2020 u/s 307 IPC r/w 3/5 Exp. Subs. Act, 23 ULA (P) Act and investigation took up, as envisaged under section 23 ULA (P) Act. A case has been professionally investigated by taking the help of modern technical tools. Following the proceedings and technical evidence, three militants were been found involved in the attack who subsequently were apprehended along with other evidence on February 6, four days after the attack. “The trio were found affiliated with JeM, a banned outfit,” the statement said. It said that they were tasked to carry out more grenade attacks at different places of Srinagar City most probably in Lal Chowk area on the directions of mentors across in order to disturb the integrity and sovereignty of the nation and to sabotage the peace and public order so as to induce terror among the general public. “Prima facie case established under above-mentioned offences against three militants and accordingly the case has been challenged before Court of Addl.
