J&K Encounters: Two Terrorists Killed In Baramulla, Operation At Shopian Underway
After security troops roped off the locations, militants hiding there began fire, prompting security forces to retaliate.
Officials claimed on Friday that two encounters began in Jammu and Kashmir between militants and security forces in the Chitragam region of South Kashmir's Shopian district and Pattan in North Kashmir's Baramulla district, news agency ANI reported.
Two terrorist have been neutralised by security forces in the ongoing encounter at Yedipora in Pattan area of Baramulla, the police said.
"Both the local terrorists were linked with proscribed terror outfit JeM. Search operation in progress," ADGP Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

The firefights began when a joint police and security team received information about the presence of terrorists in certain regions, IANS reported.
After security troops roped off the locations, militants hiding there began fire, prompting security forces to retaliate.
In recent years, there have been a number of confrontations between militants and security personnel across Kashmir, with several terrorists being killed.
Previously, a terrorist was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla area.
Earlier, a combined cordon-and-search operation was initiated in the Wanigam Bala region of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla by Police, Army (29RR), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) (2nd Bn) in response to specific intelligence.
During the search, when the joint search team neared the likely location, the hidden terrorist opened fire indiscriminately on the joint search party, prompting a confrontation.
Incriminating materials, weaponry, and ammunition were discovered at the scene of the encounter, including one AK-47 rifle, three AK-Magazines, seven AK-Rounds, one Pouch, and one Bag.
According to the police, all of the discovered items have been entered into case files for further examination.
In this respect, a case has been filed under relevant parts of the law, and an investigation has begun.
