Suspected Drone Spotted Near IB In J&K's Samba, Pak Drone Entering Ferozepur Forced To Return
The suspected drone sighting in Jammu-Kashmir's Samba comes after a drone from Pakistan was spotted close to the international border in Punjab's Ferozepur on Saturday.
New Delhi: Locals in Jammu-Kashmir's Samba on Saturday night reported sighting a suspected drone-type object near International Border in the sector.
A search operation has been carried out, news agency ANI reported J&K Police as informing.
This comes as a drone from Pakistan was spotted close to the international border in Punjab's Ferozepur on Saturday.
The unmanned aerial vehicle flew back to Pakistan after the Border Security Force troops fired at it, news agency PTI reported officials as saying. The BSF personnel fired at least 18 rounds towards the drone, the officials added.
A search operation is underway, they said.
On the night of October 27, the BSF had recovered a huge cache of firearms and ammunition in the Ferozepur sector.
The BSF troops had recovered a bag along the Indo-Pakistan border and had found six AK-47 assault rifles, three pistols, and 200 live rounds from it.
As for Samba, a suspected drone was spotted by villagers in September as well. The Special Operations Group (SOG) conducted a search operation in the border area of Jakh pertaining to the same.
According to BSF, a total of 107 drones flying from across the border were spotted inside Indian territory till July this year, as compared to 97 drones spotted the whole of last year.
ANI reported a senior BSF officer as saying that most of these drones have come from Pakistan and are used to deliver narcotics, weapons, explosives, and ammunition.
