J&K: Security Beefed Up, High Alert On Highway After Four Pakistani Terrorists Killed In 'Chance Encounter'

All border areas' entry points to Jammu have been monitored, and vehicles entering the city are thoroughly inspected.

New Delhi: Following the shooting deaths of four heavily armed militants on Wednesday, officials stated that the Jammu region's security forces have been placed on high alert, particularly along the highway, reported news agency PTI. Security has been increased in the border regions of the region and the counter-infiltration grid has been placed on high alert.

A "chance encounter" with security personnel early on Wednesday morning resulted in the deaths of four terrorists traveling in a truck from Pakistan to Kashmir. From the terrorists who had been killed, seven AK assault rifles, one M4 rifle, three pistols, and a lot of ammunition were found.

They stated that the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir has strict security measures in place and vehicles are being inspected to guarantee complete safety.

They stated that security checkpoints on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway have increased vigilance and are checking vehicles, particularly trucks.

All border areas' entry points to Jammu have been monitored, and vehicles entering the city are thoroughly inspected.

According to Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu Zone, the gunfight occurred around 7.30 a.m. in thick fog near the Tawi Bridge in the Sidhra bypass area of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

Four terrorists' bodies had been found in the truck, according to Singh, who was flanked by Maj Gen Gaurav Gautam, General Officer Commanding the Army's Tiger division.

He stated, "Seven AK assault rifles, one M4 rifle, three pistols and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists."

"A suspicious movement of a truck, that was moving towards Kashmir, was observed. It was followed and stopped near Sidhra check point, but its driver escaped on the pretext of attending the call of nature," the ADGP said.

According to Singh, after becoming suspicious, the police began searching the truck, but they encountered intense fire from within.

He claimed that an encounter followed, during which the truck caught fire and the terrorists were killed.

According to the ADGP, the ultras were heavily armed and headed for Kashmir when they were stopped.

He stated that efforts are being made to capture the truck driver, who has fled.

The ADGP stated, "The identity and group affiliation of the terrorists is awaited."

In an earlier interview with the PTI, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh stated that three terrorists have been eliminated thus far. "The number could be more," he continued.

He stated that the question of whether the terrorists originated across the border and were picked up by the truck driver to transport them to Kashmir is the subject of an investigation.

According to officials, the two sides exchanged heavy fire for more than 45 minutes, during which time several explosions that appeared to have been fired by grenades were heard.

The truck, which was loaded with husk and was completely destroyed in the gunfight, was seen blowing smoke.
