Truck Driver Killed As Army Fires 'Warning Shots' At Baramulla Check Post In J&K

After speeding in Baramulla and not stopping at the Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP), a truck driver was shot and killed at Sangrama Chowk.

A truck driver was shot and killed by the Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla after he allegedly refused to stop his vehicle at a check post despite repeated warnings. On Wednesday, a check post was set up at Sangrama Chowk, following inputs about the movement of terrorists in the area.

On February 5, security forces set up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) following intelligence inputs about possible terrorist movements. When a suspicious civilian truck was seen speeding, it ignored repeated warnings to stop, resulting in a high-speed chase spanning 23 kilometres.

"On 05 Feb 2025, based on a specific intelligence input about move of terrorists, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was established by Security Forces. One speeding suspicious civil truck was spotted. When challenged, the truck didn't stop despite repeated warnings instead accelerated further while crossing the check post," the Army's Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

Indian Army's Chinar Corps said that the security forces fired shots at the truck's tyres to deflate them, bringing the vehicle to a halt near Sangrama Chowk. During which the driver was injured as well, he was rushed immediately to Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, where he was declared dead.
