J&k: Hizbul Mujahideen Terrorist Killed In Encounter In Kulgam, Operation Continues

Specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area was received by the police after which the security forces launched a cordon and search operation.

Security forces killed a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist in an encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, reported news agency PTI. 

According to the news agency, specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area was received by the police after which the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khandipora area of the south Kashmir district.

While the search operation was happening in the area, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces leading to an encounter.

In the exchange of fire, one terrorist belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit was killed.

"EncounterUpdate: 1 terrorist of proscribed terror outfit HM killed. Operation in progress. Further details shall follow," tweeted the Kashmir zone police.

The operation is still going on to nab the remaining terrorists, read the tweet of the Jammu and Kashmir police.
