Republic Day Celebrations: Intel Agencies On Alert In Jammu And Kashmir

Additional DGP Anand Jain of Jammu and Kashmir police ordered intel agencies to be on alert in view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.

In view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, Additional DGP Anand Jain of Jammu and Kashmir Police ordered all intelligence agencies to be on high alert to prevent anti-national elements, news agency PTI reported.

Jain, while reviewing the security arrangements for Republic Day in Jammu and Kashmir at a high-level meeting, asked the intelligence agencies, Army, CRPF, BSF, and civil administration to be vigilant in their respective areas.

As per PTI, the Additional DGP ordered the officers to maintain proper coordination among all the intelligence agencies and security organisations to ensure that the Republic Day celebrations are conducted smoothly. He stressed delivering accurate briefings to the officials who will be deployed on duty for Republic Day to thwart any possible nefarious designs by anti-national elements.

The police officer also asked the personnel to ensure that adequate security arrangements are made in and around the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu, where the Republic Day function will be held.

In 2020, Jammu and Kashmir celebrated the 71st Republic Day for the first time since its special status was withdrawn and the erstwhile state was divided into two union territories.

Amid tight security arrangements, Lt Governor GC Murmu unfurled the national flag of India at the Republic Day function in the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu. He also visited the Balidan Stambh to pay tribute to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country.

India will be celebrating its 75th Republic Day this year on January 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950. The theme for this year's Republic Day is 'India- Mother of Democracy' and 'Viksit Bharat.'

Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has been invited to attend India's annual Republic Day celebration for the sixth time at Kartavya Path in Delhi.
