The police suspect the attacker threw the bombs at an empty area outside the university canteen as a warning about a serious attack, according to a NDTV report.
Meanwhile, Congress's student wing National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has alleged the target of the attacks was their leader Adnan Ansari, the NDTV report stated.
The NSUI said that Ansari's continuous protest against the university management may have led to the attack.
In a separate incident on Monday, the Mumbai Police launched a probe after a man threatened to blast the Mira Bhayandar area under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The caller gave this information after calling up a Joint Commissioner of Police-rank officer but did not specify the timing or the location of the blast.
